It's not mentioned in this morning's Standoff Continues in Crawford by Sam Coates, but Al Sharpton will be joining the Sheehan circus on Sunday. Sheehan should watch the man closely; he perfected the art of remaining in public life despite outrageous accusations that reporters grew tired of pursuing. Not that Sheehan's greatest hits have been all that hotly pursued. Certainly not in this story, or this paper.
Continuing her campaign to meet again with Bush is Sheehan, who has called the president an "evil maniac" who should "sign up his two little party-animal girls" for the war. Sheehan maintains that Bush, the "biggest terrorist," is promoting the "cancer of Pax Americana" and "imperialism in the Middle East" with the help of other "war criminals" in the executive branch and Congress.
That's a perfectly fact-based nut graf and hardly exhaustive. It's also the language that the Post has mostly ignored or referred to in vague and euphemistic ways. Remember that the next time anyone at the Post writes about how effective Sheehan is in rallying opposition to the war.

The best way to support our troups is to bring them home, ALIVE! Today! 130,000 troups in Iraq is 130,000 troups not here protecting this country. Our National Guard exists to protect America, ONLY! We are "sitting ducks" and if we were attacked now, we have no defense.

Hmm, Chris. Has Cindy Sheehan caused any race riots? You have to start the bar high for Sharpton comparisons. Are they both sounding nut-and-berry freaky? Sure. Do they deserve each other? No doubt. But his rhetoric has caused actualy property destruction and death.

Agreed, Tim, that it's quite a high bar.
One can aspire.
