In The Land of Make-Believe

Via Little Green Footballs, Code Pink's advance notice of yesterday's White House demo:

WHAT: In the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., hundreds of people from throughout the United States will participate in a nonviolent civil disobedience action on Monday, Sept. 26 at the White House. Cindy Sheehan will participate in the action and risk arrest as will members of the clergy and other military families.

If you say so.  I mean for example Gandhi walked 240 miles and created a civil disturbance on his "Salt March" that led to 60,000 people being thrown in jail.

And Dr. King's followers were hammered by firehoses and attacked by police dogs.

And then Cindy Sheehan got arrested at the White House, and the misdemeanor that she and other demonstrators were charged with can be reconciled by paying a $50 fine, by mail. I don't know which is more chilling--the crushing oppression of BushMcHitler, or the eerie repetition of these patterns of brutality.
