A sharp-eyed reader spotted this article in the Washington City Paper about disproportionate coverage of homicides. Recently a white man was murdered in a semi-gentrifying neighborhood, and received prominent coverage in the Post. Around the same time, a black man was murdered in a tougher neighborhood and got a brief. It's hard to summarize, so go take a look at it. It raises decent questions about race while also quoting a Postie on how the paper looks at homicides--which depressingly includes judging some to be more routine than others, including those connected to drug crimes.
