Upbeat news about a conference aiming to bridge internal and external differences, from the Nov. 14 (even though it says Oct. 14) Iraqi Press Monitor:
Enhancing the Political Process
(Al-Sabah) Al-Sabah has learned the names of 24 political leaders who will take part in the national dialogue and reconciliation conference in Cairo. At least 60 figures will represent various Iraqi groups in the conference, which will be held on November 19. Official sources told al-Sabah that among the figures to attend the Cairo conference are Harith al-Dhari, leader of the Association of Muslim Scholars; former prime minister Iyad Allawi; senior Sunni leader Adnan al-Dulaimi; deputy prime minister Ahmad al-Chalabi; and Kurdistan region president Masood Barzani. Politicians said visits by high-ranking international officials to Iraq have enhanced the political process and the national dialogue conference. Foreign ministers from the Cooperation Council of the Gulf States have also lent their support to the Arab League initiative and the rebuilding of Iraq.
