GOP Leaders Urge Probe in Prisons Leak on A1 is about the Republican response to Dana Priest's story exposing a secret CIA program. You do the following at a corporate or government office, and reporters accuse you of stonewalling:
A spokesman for The Post declined to comment on the letter from the congressional leaders.
Jonathan Weisman, who writes today's story, does some of the commenting himself, reminding us:
The Post did not publish the names of the Eastern European countries involved, at the request of senior U.S. officials.
Thoughtful.
Weisman quotes not only Democrats but also some Republicans rejecting the idea of the investigation, including the always helpful Lindsay Graham--Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. The real story is those jails. But it isn't the only story. There's a story about people inside the CIA deciding to break the law by talking about a classified program. There's another story about Priest deciding the program should be exposed, and that national security would not be terribly harmed by the exposure. Others come to mind. Lots of stories there, Graham, sit down by the fireplace.
What is it about the CIA, anyway? Do they have a separate unit dedicated to undermining the Bush Administration? There's another story.
