The headline is Senators Question Oil Industry Executives on washingtonpost.com's homepage; the lede:
For the nation's top oilmen, it is a new and uncomfortable reality. They were summoned by the Republican leadership of the Senate and appeared this morning before two congressional panels to explain why prices climbed as high as they did and what they intend to do with their companies' soaring profits.
It was a spike. It is de-spiking.
You can tell the facts and not exactly the truth. The oilmen were summoned by Congress and reporter Justin Bloom undoubtedly doesn't err in saying they'll be asked to explain--to explain--what they intend to do with their profits.
Here's another headline: Gas Prices Plummet. There's a story there. Here's a hint: Prices for 87-octane (cheapo regular) at an undisclosed 7-11. The first photo below left was taken soon after Katrina. The second was taken today.
