The slightly convoluted story is that Jason Zengerle of The New Republic's The Plank published a confidential email from Daily Kos's Markos Moulitsas to other top lefty bloggers urging them to ignore a story about hisself and Jerome Armstrong. Others are commenting about that story. What impresses me is today's entry by The Markos himself:
There was one big rule for this list, an important cog in the growing Vast Left Wing Conspiracy -- everything discussed was off the record.
That was obviously violated today as the New Republic betrayed, once again, that it seeks to destroy the new people-powered movement for the sake of its Lieberman-worshipping neocon owners; that it stands with the National Review and wingnutoshpere in their opposition to grassroots Democrats....
TNR and its enablers are feeling the heat of their own irrelevance and this is how they fight it -- by undermining the progressive movement. Zengerle has made common cause with the wingnutosphere, using the laughable "kosola" frame they created and emailing his "scoops" to them for links. This is what the once-proud New Republic has evolved into -- just another cog of the Vast RIGHT Wing Conspiracy...
This is how the leader of a national movement addresses the public? its Lieberman-worshipping neocon owners...Zengerle has made common cause with the wingnutosphere... You're going to win exactly how many national elections speaking like this?
UPDATE: Howard Kurtz writes about the Kossacks' war against Lieberman in Media Notes online today, noting that Moulitsas appears in an ad for Lieberman's primary opponent, Ned Lamont. Gotta check to see if Kos uses the ad to talk about the wingnutosphere or the Lieberman-worshipping neocon owners of The New Republic.
