Kudos to the Post for speaking clearly in its simple online hed, Senate Rejects Troop Pullout, currently on the homepage. It's amazing how hard the words "pullout" or "withdrawal" can be to pronounce. Not only does the Kerry-inspired (big surprise there) bill use the word redeployment; some mainstream media insists on using using the R-word, including MSNBC.
From the Post, Harry Reid:
Reid quoted Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr., the top U.S. commander in Iraq, as saying today that thousands of U.S. troops will likely be redeployed by the end of this year. "To my Republican colleagues, is General Casey surrendering? Is General Casey cutting and running? Is General Casey admitting defeat? I think not."
Has General Casey decided U.S. troops must be "redeployed" by July, 2007? Has Casey ordered President Bush to start a withdrawl this year? I think not.
